NOTEWORTHY

In 1846, Belgian musician and musical instrument designer Adolphe Sax patents the saxophone while living in Paris.

In 1982, Mark David Chapman pleads guilty to the murder of John Lennon in the second degree. Chapman is sentenced to 20 years to life in prison at the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, New York. He has been denied parole seven times and his next parole hearing is in August 2018.
