In 1985, the first Farm Aid benefit concert was held at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois before a crowd of 80,000. The concert, which raises more than $9 million, is organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young following comments made by Bob Dylan at Live Aid earlier in the year about the plight of  American farmers.
